Scan NewsFeed for threats with Norton on Facebook

It is very common to see bad infected link/video shared on your wall by some of your noob friends, who infects their own profile by clicking the links, and leave the link on ur profile too. Many times its really hard to find out that which link is genuine and which is not, which link is safe and which is not.

But, Fear no longer ....
Symantec have created  an application Norton Safe Web, that scans your current news feeds to see if they contain links that are unsafe for you or your friends to click on. It’s a free and easy way to ensure that a little curious clicking won’t get you and your friends list into trouble.

Norton can  identify URLs containing security risks such as phishing sites, malicious downloads, browser exploits and links to unsafe external sites.  You can also enable automatic background scan for malicious links.

How to Scan Facebook with Norton:

1. Go to the following link : http://apps.facebook.com/nortonsafeweb/
You will be asked to grant permission for Norton to access your Facebook information

2. After giving permissions, it will start scanning. On the Scan Summary page, you can click on the "Enable Auto-Scan" to have Safe Web check and notify you of malicious links every hour.

3. By default it also get permission to post its promotional link on your wall, but you can change the permissions. For that Go to Privacy Settings  > Apps & Websites 'edit settings' > Hover over Norton Safe Web and you'll see a pencil to edit permission. Click the pencil and give only the required permissions.
